Youngtimer calculator: what does an older company car cost you per month in the Netherlands?

A Dutch company car of 16 years or older is taxed on 35% of its market value, not on the list price. Enter a Dutch licence plate, or choose from 200 popular youngtimers. See what it costs you net per month, and what you pay in every year from 2026 to 2032. The Budget Day 2026 decision is built in: 17 years in 2027 and 20 years from 2028, with transition rules for cars from 2009 and 2010 that were on the company at the end of 2025 (they keep the 16-year limit in 2027).

Main facts A youngtimer is a company car of 16 years or older (in 2026: model year 2010 or older). The taxable benefit is 35% of the market value, instead of 25% of the list price. Only the market value counts. Source: Dutch tax office (Belastingdienst), checked on 5 September 2026.

Holdwise Youngtimer Calculator: what your car costs in 2026 and 2027

Updated on Budget Day, 15 September 2026: the government's choice for 2027 is included.
The Dutch vehicle authority (RDW) gives the date of first registration, make and model and the original list price. No Dutch plate, or still to buy? Choose your car below.
Car not in the list? Choose “I fill it in myself”. The calculator works for any car.
2. When was the car first registered?
The date of first registration is on the registration certificate. Do not know the month? Leave January.
3. What was the list price, and what is the car worth now?
List price then (the Dutch catalogue value, including VAT and the car tax called bpm)
Value now (the market value: what a buyer pays today)
Choose a car from the list and we fill in guide prices. Change them as you like.
The taxable benefit comes on top of this income, and you pay tax on it. If you earn little or nothing, the tax on the benefit is low or even zero, because of the discounts on income tax that everyone gets (the tax credits). The calculator works it out with the 2026 rates.
5. Two questions about the company
Did you already drive this car through the company in 2025?
Is the car on the company before 1 January 2027?
From 2027 the BV pays an employer levy of 12% on the list price of every petrol, diesel, LPG or hybrid car that is also driven privately. A fully electric car is outside this levy. If the car is on the company before 2027, that levy only starts on 1 January 2031 (Tax Plan 2027).
6. Three more things
Do you drive it through a BV, or as a sole trader?
Do you drive less than 500 kilometres per year privately?
Fuel
Enter a Dutch licence plate and the fuel type comes from the RDW data.

This calculator gives a first estimate. The real taxable benefit depends on the date on the registration certificate and a valuation of the market value.

Is your car younger than sixteen years, or do you want to see the new employer levy for any company car? The company car calculator 2027 does the sum for any car, electric included.

How the sum works

A company car that you also drive privately gives a taxable benefit: an amount that is added to your income, on which you pay income tax. For a normal car it is 22% of the list price (25% for cars from before 2017). For a youngtimer, 16 years or older, the tax office takes 35% of what the car is worth now. Because a luxury car of sixteen years is worth a fraction of its list price, the benefit is low.

Example: Mercedes S 500 from 2009As a youngtimerWithout the rule
BaseMarket value €17,000List price €135,000
Taxable benefit per year35% = €5,95025% = €33,750
Net per month at 49.5%€245€1,392

Market value: how you set it

The market value is what a buyer pays today for your car. Look at the asking prices of the same model and year (the calculator gives the links), take a few percent off, and have a valuation report made. That report is your proof in an audit. Without it the inspector can choose a value himself.

What the calculator does with a Dutch licence plate

The RDW is the Dutch authority that keeps all licence plates, and its data is public. From your plate the calculator takes the date of first registration (which decides from which month your car qualifies), the make and model, and the list price then. The calculator only uses that list price for two lines: what you pay if the car drops out of the rule, and the employer levy of the BV. For the taxable benefit itself only the market value counts.

2027: the decision

The law said until 15 September 2026: from 2027 only cars of 25 years and older. Parliament asked for a softer transition. On 15 September 2026 the cabinet chose in the 2027 Tax Plan: 17 years in 2027 and 20 years from 2028. The jump to 25 years is off the table. Cars first registered in 2009 or 2010 that were on the company on 31 December 2025 keep the 16-year limit in 2027, so they qualify all year. For a car from 2009 this changes nothing, it is already 18 in 2027; in practice the transition matters for cars from 2010. The calculator uses this decision and shows for your car in which years it qualifies. In Dutch: the list of 200 luxury youngtimers is on Beste youngtimer 2027, and the rule itself on De youngtimerregeling in 2027. For expats with a Dutch BV: the benefit is added to your salary as director; how that salary works is on the director salary in 2026.
