What counts as income — and where it is taxed
Everything you receive for content counts: a share of advertising revenue, sponsorships, memberships, affiliate fees — and just as much the free products and trips, at their market value. Live in the Netherlands, and your worldwide creator income is taxed here. As a sole trader you pay income tax with entrepreneur deductions; run it through a Dutch private limited company (BV) and the company pays corporate tax of 19% on profit up to €200.000 (2026), while you take a salary and dividends.
The American 30% — and how the treaty removes it
American platforms withhold up to 30% US tax on the American share of your ad revenue — unless you claim the US–Netherlands tax treaty in the payment settings. File the right form and the rate on business profits drops to 0%: W-8BEN as an individual, W-8BEN-E for your BV. The same logic applies to other US platforms that pay royalties.
Memberships, VAT and the platforms
Memberships, channel subscriptions and your own digital products are services to consumers — carrying the value-added tax (VAT) of your fan’s country. From a Dutch base that is one quarterly return through the EU One Stop Shop (OSS) — a single filing that covers all twenty-seven countries at once. Some platforms settle consumer VAT for you; knowing which do is half the administration.
When your channel deserves a company
From roughly €100,000 of annual profit — or earlier, when brand deals, liability or a move abroad come into play — the BV starts to win. Your channel, brand and rights become company assets in a holding, protected and ready for whatever comes: a management structure, a sale, or simply growing without the tax bill spiking.

The creator knowledge base
Below sits the written cluster: tax, wealth, Amsterdam, privacy and the income types, each page answering one question with the 2026 figures. Whatever the content you make, the structure underneath works the same way.
