The open door
The EU–Kenya economic partnership agreement secures duty-free, quota-free access for Kenyan exports — the long-term certainty the corridor was waiting for — with origin documentation running per the agreement’s rules. The physical corridor is famous: flowers and fresh produce through Schiphol and the auction infrastructure, cold chains that the Dutch trade built over decades.
The compliance file per lane
Fresh produce runs the plant-health gate: phytosanitary certification, border checks per category, and the residue rules the buyers audit. Processed food adds the food-safety registration and labelling stack: the wider file. The agritech side — sensors, irrigation tech, software — rides the standard product and digital rails instead: the hardware duties and the SaaS chapter.
Owning the margin
The structural move: the exporter’s own Dutch BV as importer and seller — article 23 on the imports (the lever), direct relationships with retail and wholesale instead of selling at the dock, and the auction as one channel rather than the only one: the commerce stack. The banking file follows the standard pattern: the binder.
