The trade register

  • Public: the company name, trade names, legal form, trade register number, the visiting address, the sector and the date of formation.
  • Public: who is authorised to act for the company, by name and function.
  • Shielded: the private home addresses of directors. This became the default a few years ago.
  • Available on request to those with a legitimate interest: certain further details, through a controlled procedure.

The register of beneficial owners

The register of ultimate beneficial owners (UBO register) lists the people who really own a company. It was set up so that the public could search it. A European court ruling in 2022 ended public access. Authorities and certain professions, such as notaries and banks, still have access. Your name is in the register, and only these parties can see it.

The annual accounts

Every company files annual accounts. How much it has to publish depends on its size. Companies in the smallest size categories file a condensed balance sheet, so their turnover and profit stay private. Most creator companies are in this group.

What stays private

Your tax return, salary, bank balances and platform statements stay private. The tax authorities receive platform and bank data through their own systems. See what platforms report about you. This data is shared only between authorities.

Further steps to protect your privacy

The most important remaining point is your visiting address. See deciding your address. Next come the trade name and the separation of your brands. See stage name and legal name and keeping brands separate.
