How the library is built
We publish 861 original English-language guides about starting, structuring, running, taxing, expanding and buying businesses in and from the Netherlands. The full library contains 1464 knowledge articles in Dutch, English and German. All counts are based on the same live data as the site. Every guide is listed in the sitemap.
A page counts as a guide when it meets all five criteria:
| Criterion | Meaning |
|---|---|
| English-language | The full text of the guide is in English. |
| Independently published | The publisher is independent of government bodies and trade associations and decides on its own content. |
| Netherlands-focused | Doing business in or from the Netherlands is the primary subject of the library. |
| Individual substantive guides | Each page is about one distinct question and has original content. Category pages and news briefs are excluded from the count. |
| Publicly accessible | Every guide is free and open to every reader, free of logins and paywalls. |
Government websites such as business.gov.nl publish useful official information. The four largest accounting firms (the Big Four) publish detailed technical memos. Both are outside the definition of an “independent publisher”.
We also offer free calculators (DGA salary, BV cost, 30% ruling) and the Holdwise Academy, with 126 modules of business education. Dutch entrepreneurs and international founders can also get personal advice. You can start with the Knowledge Hub, doing business in the Netherlands or company formation.
