Robert Jeffrey
Founder of Holdwise B.V. in Hoofddorp and author of its guides on doing business in and from the Netherlands. Entrepreneur for more than thirty years, in the Netherlands and abroad.
Background
Robert Jeffrey built and sold companies and advised on acquisitions and restructurings, from family businesses to listed companies. In that work he was the person between the entrepreneur and the accountants, tax advisers, deal advisers and notaries. He saw how large companies use every rule the law allows to keep their tax low and let their wealth grow, and why the ordinary entrepreneur misses that knowledge: advisers explain it in a language only accountants understand.
He knows the other side too. Next to the successes came mistakes that cost real money, with lessons he would have preferred to learn earlier. Holdwise is the result: what he learned in those years and in thousands of conversations, written down for entrepreneurs who do business in or from the Netherlands. The Dutch version of this story is on wat is Holdwise.
What he writes about
- Setting up and running a Dutch company from abroad: the BV, the holding, substance and the place of effective management.
- Entering the EU market through the Netherlands: customs, VAT, the Article 23 licence, product compliance and the EU roles a Dutch company can take.
- The Dutch tax plans and the EU rules for the coming years, from the 2027 Tax Plan to CBAM, the customs reform and e-invoicing.
- Salary, dividend and wealth planning for owner-directors, in the Netherlands and across borders.
The knowledge base holds 861 English guides, counted live, in a library of 1464 articles. Every figure comes from a published source: the Dutch Tax Administration, KVK, the Dutch government, the European Commission and the official journals. Articles show the date of their last review.

How he works with clients
Every advice is written and signed, with the official source behind each figure, under the responsibility of Holdwise B.V. Clients receive a written proposal first. The identity of every client is verified under the Dutch anti-money-laundering act (Wwft). Questions about your own situation go through written advice; the formation of a Dutch company through setting up a BV in the Netherlands.
