The apostille. Notarial deeds and court documents are apostilled by the Procura della Repubblica at the court of the district where the notary is. Chamber of Commerce documents and other administrative documents are apostilled by the Prefettura. Each apostille needs a €16 revenue stamp.
Good to know. The Dutch notary needs the certificato (certified). The visura (informational) is for information only. Each office only apostilles documents from its own province. Offices in larger cities work by appointment and can take one to two weeks.
If a company from Italy becomes a shareholder
Register extract, at most three months old: Registro delle Imprese (Chambers of Commerce). Order a visura camerale or certificato camerale online. Plus articles, signing authority and ownership chart.
Italy: business register and trade
Italy's Registro delle Imprese is run by the Chambers of Commerce, with support from Unioncamere, under the supervision of a judge and the Ministry of Economic Development. InfoCamere, a consortium of the Chambers of Commerce, maintains the technical infrastructure.
Access to the register and to a limited amount of information, such as the company name and address, is free of charge. Complete information online is available on request and against payment.
The business register was established in 1993 and is kept by business register offices (uffici del Registro delle Imprese). Almost all company documents entered in it are drawn up by a notary.
In 2024, Dutch goods exports to Italy were worth €27.2 billion and imports from Italy €14.9 billion. Italy was the seventh-largest trading partner for Dutch imports in 2024, up from eighth place.
