The apostille. Public Service Development Agency of the Ministry of Justice, through any Public Service Hall (House of Justice). Since 2020, the apostille has been electronic and can be verified online. It usually takes a few working days.
Good to know. Notary, register extract and apostille can all be done in one visit to a Public Service Hall. Georgian documents need a translation. Many Public Service Halls can arrange a certified translation on the spot.
If a company from Georgia becomes a shareholder
Register extract, at most three months old: National Agency of Public Registry (NAPR), at the same Public Service Hall. Order an extract from the register of entrepreneurs showing directors and partners. Plus articles, signing authority and ownership chart.
Trade between Georgia and the EU
The European Union (EU) was Georgia's largest trading partner in 2025, with 21.6% of its total trade. EU trade in goods with Georgia totalled €5.2 billion in 2025: EU exports of €4.3 billion and imports of €873 million.
The EU mainly exports machinery, transport equipment, chemical products and food to Georgia. It mainly imports fuel and mining products, food, chemicals and textiles from Georgia.
The Association Agreement was signed on 27 June 2014 and has been in force since 1 July 2016. Its deep and comprehensive free trade area, applied provisionally since 1 September 2014, removes all import duties on goods and lets EU and Georgian companies set up a subsidiary or branch on equal terms.
Georgia was granted EU candidate status on 14 December 2023. On 27 June 2024 the European Council concluded that the Georgian government's actions were de facto halting the accession process.
