Good to know. Estonian e-residents can sign with the digital ID. A Dutch notary still needs a notarial power of attorney with an apostille. Ask the notary to do it on paper. Order the English extract from the register to avoid a translation.

If a company from Estonia becomes a shareholder

Register extract, at most three months old: Commercial Register (äriregister) of the Centre of Registers and Information Systems. Order an extract (registrikaart) showing board members and, for a private limited company, the shareholders. Plus articles, signing authority and ownership chart.

Estonia: business register and trade

The registration department of Tartu County Court maintains Estonia's commercial register, and the Centre of Registers and Information Systems maintains its central database. The register contains information dating back to 1 September 1995.

Online searches on legal entities, self-employed persons and branches of foreign companies are free of charge. The e-Business Register also gives free access to registry card data, general data and data on tax arrears. Historical registry card data, annual reports and articles of association are subject to a fee.

Copies of file documents can be requested via the e-Business Register or a notary, whose fees are set out in the Notary Fees Act. The register is kept in Estonian, and foreign-language documents are submitted with a sworn translation into Estonian.

In 2025, the Netherlands exported goods worth €1.1 billion to Estonia and imported goods worth €771 million from Estonia, according to provisional figures.
