Good to know. Documents must be originals in good condition, with a clearly visible signature of the notary. The ministry rejects copies.
If a company from the Dominican Republic becomes a shareholder
Register extract, at most three months old: Chamber of Commerce (Cámara de Comercio), mercantile register. Order the commercial registration certificate showing directors. For a limited company (an S.R.L.), the partners are listed in the statutes. Plus articles, signing authority and ownership chart.
Trade between the Dominican Republic and the EU
The European Union (EU) and the Dominican Republic traded goods worth €4.4 billion in 2025. The EU was the country's third-largest trading partner that year, with 12.9% of Dominican trade.
Foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco made up 33.5% of EU imports from the Dominican Republic in 2025, and optical and photographic instruments 27.3%. In 2024 it was the fifth-largest exporter of organic products to the EU.
The Dominican Republic is the EU's main trading partner in the Caribbean. In 2024 the EU was its largest source of new foreign direct investment, at 1.52 billion United States dollars. Services trade that year came to €1.4 billion from the EU and €1.7 billion the other way.
Trade follows the Economic Partnership Agreement of the Caribbean Forum states, provisionally applied since December 2008. Its Joint Council held its fifth meeting in Santo Domingo on 19 June 2026.
