Documents from Chile
Passport copy, certified by a notary in Chile.
Proof of address in Chile, at most three months old.
Power of attorney. Sign the power of attorney (escritura pública) before a Chilean notario. The Ministry of Justice apostilles it.

The apostille. Notarised documents and powers of attorney are apostilled by the Ministry of Justice (Santiago, or the regional Seremi de Justicia). The Chilean apostille is free of charge. It is electronic and can be verified online. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs apostilles the documents outside the scope of the other ministries.
Good to know. The apostille is free and electronic. Foreign recipients verify it online. If you apply from a region, use the regional Seremi de Justicia in place of Santiago.
If a company from Chile becomes a shareholder
Register extract, at most three months old: Registro de Comercio at the Conservador de Bienes Raíces, or the Registro de Empresas y Sociedades for companies formed online. Order a certificado de vigencia and the statutes. The Ministry of Justice apostilles both. Plus articles, signing authority and ownership chart.
Trade between Chile and the EU
Trade in goods between the European Union (EU) and Chile reached €21 billion in 2025, 3% more than the year before. The EU was Chile's third-largest trade partner in 2025, with about 10% of Chilean trade.
Vegetable products (40%), mineral products (20%) and base metals (20%) were the main EU imports from Chile in 2025. Machinery (26%), chemical products (17%) and transport equipment (15%) headed EU exports to Chile that year.
Services trade came to €8.7 billion in 2024, with an EU surplus of €2.5 billion. The EU is Chile's biggest source of foreign direct investment, with stocks of €57 billion in 2024, about one third of the total.
The EU-Chile Association Agreement has been in force since 2003. On 13 December 2023 both sides signed an Advanced Framework Agreement and an Interim Trade Agreement. The Interim Trade Agreement entered into force on 1 February 2025.
