Duty-free access under GSP+

Duty-free access depends on documents that prove the origin and on the EU's monitoring of the scheme. Sri Lankan trade already has this access. If you have your own EU entity, your group earns the distribution margin.

Apparel: technical garments

Sri Lankan makers sell advanced apparel, such as lingerie, sportswear and technical garments, to brands that check their suppliers closely. Your own BV (besloten vennootschap, the Dutch private limited company) presents the compliance file directly and keeps stock in the EU for repeat orders. It also earns the margin on delivery within the EU. See the sector article.

Tea and spices: building a brand

Bulk Ceylon tea is sold at auction. Ceylon tea brands are sold for several times that price. The BV acts as the EU food business operator and manages sales to shops and directly to consumers (D2C). Your group keeps the extra value of the Ceylon origin.

Setup from Colombo

The BV can be 100% Sri Lankan-owned. You set it up remotely through the non-resident process. At the border, you use Article 23.
